Opportunities to Serve
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is a liturgical service ministry responsible for preparation and care of the sacred instruments of our worship. The Guild members care for metals, linens, hangings, vestments, candles and all other appointments necessary for all services at Trinity Cathedral. This silent service includes the members of the Altar Guild, the Sacristans and the Chapel Leaders. Currently there are 37 active lay members who serve in teams of seven or eight once a month. Other lay members choose to serve seasonally in special tasks. To ensure every member of the Altar Guild is informed and prepared, an instructional meeting is held with the clergy once a year. “Hands on” training is given to all new members, and a graphic manual of protocols is available by clicking here.

Trinity Cathedral Historical Society
Trinity Cathedral’s Historical Society serves the Trinity community and the city of Omaha by preserving the history of this treasured cathedral and the stories that surround it.
The Historical Society maintains and updates the museum located on the third floor of the parish house. The museum houses a wide array of artifacts and files including numerous items from Bishop Robert Harper Clarkson, the first Bishop of Nebraska. Bishop Clarkson instituted the cathedral system in Nebraska and supervised the building of the beautiful neo-Gothic Trinity Episcopal Cathedral which was completed in 1883. The cathedral is on the National Register of Historical Places, and the museum is on the Nebraska State Historical Society’s List of Small Museums.
As curators of the rich history that is Trinity, the Historical Society preserves and displays noteworthy pieces of silver and crystal, vestments and hangings, furniture, Bibles and copies of the Book of Common Prayer. Photos and newspaper articles, metalwork and candles – all are part of the shared stories of Trinity.
